Acetylene

Oxidative pyrolysis of methane at 1 400–1 500 °C, selective recovery with N-methylpyrrolidone

Alkyne

Acetylene by oxidative pyrolysis of methane at 1 400–1 500 °C and atmospheric pressure. Methane conversion reaches 85 %, conversion to acetylene about 30 %.

Process parameters, equipment and automation meet modern energy-efficiency and safety standards: pyrolysis-gas and crude-acetylene compression operate below the explosive-decomposition pressure of acetylene. Selective recovery with N-methylpyrrolidone and a two-loop solvent circulation that reduces polymer fouling.
